Price is Right--72 hour kits

Mark your calendars for Tuesday August 14 at 6:00 for our next relief society activity.

We will be having Star Cummings come to teach us about 72 hour kits. With the many fires in our area lately, we have been reminded just how important having an up to date 72 hour kit is. We can never be too prepared for an emergency.

Also that night we will be kicking off our price is right theme for food storage. We will be playing some really fun price is right themed games. It will be a lot of fun and there will prizes you can win. We will have our own "Barbara Barker." Come in your own home-made price is right shirts (like on the show) for more fun if you want. We will have a yummy dessert and nursery provided. It will be a night you won't want to miss!!!

This is the same night as the middle school back to school night....this is why we changed the time to 6:00. We want you to still come and we hope to get done in time to have you there by 7:00. Thanks for your support!!!

(A special thanks to those who made the clothing exchange a success--we will plan on holding it next year and expanding to adult clothing too and other items so hang on to those clothes when going through them with that in mind--it was a lot of fun)

Clothing Exchange

On Saturday July 28th from 10 to 12 at the church we will be having a clothing exchange. Drop your gently used children's clothing (ranging in size from infant clothes up to primary age 12) to the church on Friday night between 7 to 7:30 p.m.. We will have tables set up for you to sort out your clothes by size and gender that night. You can bring any sort of clothes, dresses, shoes, coats, Halloween costumes, baby items, etc. You do not need to bring items to come and get items for your kids or grandkids. If you cannot bring your items on Friday night you can drop them off any time beforehand to Melanie Spendlove's house. Then come on Saturday the 28th (any time between those hours)and browse the items others dropped off and find something that is right for you!!! All items that are leftover and are not taken by anyone will be donated to the DI. With school right around the corner we hope you can find some help at our clothing exchange. ***Also be sure to be gathering your recipes for our ward cookbook***

RAISE YOUR TITLE OF LIBERTY

We read in the scriptures about Captain Moroni, and how he rent his coat and wrote upon it those things in which he believed, valued, stood for and in essence was willing to fight for. This is what he wrote..."In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children."

As families and individuals we invite you to raise your title of Liberty just as Captain Moroni did, by choosing a family motto/saying/scripture, etc. It can be that in which you believe, value, and in essence are willing to work and stand for. We encourage you to come up with your title of liberty and have it in your home where you can be reminded on a daily basis as was Captain Moroni and his people, for Captain Moroni had it hosted upon every tower in the land. Your Title of Liberty can be changed as often as needed. We have been asked to do this by our stake leaders and we hope you will all take the opportunity to strengthen your families, homes, and you individually as you Raise Your Title of Liberty.

Here are a few suggestions: Print the words that you want and put it in a frame. Vinyl could be put on a tile, wood board or on the wall. It could be a picture, or a banner/flag that hangs in the home or it could be a wall hanging.

We are asked to bring your Title of Liberty to the ward harvest dinner to display.

As sisters in the Fillmore 4th ward, we sing this song often in our meetings, but more importantly than singing these words is that the sisters carry out this message in real life in the visiting teaching program. Every day there is proof that I hear of sisters extending a hand to those around them in the form of meals, a ride to the doctor, babysitting, play dates in the park with young mothers, a listening sympathetic ear, a shoulder to cry on, and in countless other ways. We still have many around us that are lonely, sick, outside the fold of the gospel, who need our loving arms to surround them, our hands to lift up, our backs to help carry their burdens, our hearts to care for and love. Pray for inspiration to know what you can do to help even more, those sisters you visit. It truly is an errand of angels. May the Lord bless us all to do "whatsoever is gentle and human, to cheer and to bless..."
